Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the exciting conclusion to the Harry Potter films. These movies are based on the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. The last book was split into two movies, the first of which came out last November and the latter which came out on July 15th.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is action packed: it has a dragon, giants, etc. It starts off with Harry, Ron, and Hermione going to Gringotts Wizarding Bank to steal a Horcrux (Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup) from Bellatrix Lestrange’s vault. (Bellatrix is played by a creepy Helena Bonham Carter.) They enlist the help of a goblin named Griphook who betrays them. This is why they have to escape on the dragon.
After destroying the Cup, Harry, Ron, and Hermione must go to Hogwarts to find another Horcrux that belongs to Rowena Ravenclaw, another founder of Hogwarts. They must destroy this Horcrux too. They must go to Hogwarts because Harry had a vision that the Horcrux is there somewhere.
To get into Hogwarts, the three are aided by Aberforth, Professor Dumbledore’s brother. Professor Dumbledore was the Headmaster of Hogwarts before his untimely death. No one knew much about Aberforth, including Harry. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are reunited with Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, and others.
Basically, there is a huge battle at Hogwarts, in which some good characters die. Harry finds out where the Horcrux is, but Blaze unintentionally destroys it by starting a fire in the Room of Requirement. Lord Voldemort unintentionally killed a part of Harry, which he didn’t know was a Horcrux.
Harry is transported to a heaven-like place where he is told by Professor Dumbledore to talk to Lord Voldemort so that he can defeat him. Everyone thinks Harry is dead until he comes back to life. Ron and Hermione try to kill the snake Nagini, but ultimately, it is Neville who kills Nagini. Nagini is another of Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes.
Harry informs Lord Voldemort of his mistakes. Soon, Lord Voldemort is vanquished forever. We are then shown Harry and his wife Ginny, and Ron and his wife Hermione, and their respective children. The children are on their way to Hogwarts.
I liked that the movie was faithful to the book. I liked the action and the humor. I liked how old characters returned. I liked how good triumphed over evil.
In the book, there was more talking in the end—here, there was more fighting. I liked this movie a lot; it was a great conclusion to a great series. I cried during one part. I would give this movie an A+.
